ENS Project 51181/97-0066
Project description
- When photovoltaic (PV) systems are used under difficult climatic conditions, particularly at high latitudes, the design strategy must take account of direct and diffuse solar irradiance, temperatures, wind conditions and reflections.
- It is the purpose of this project to illuminate practical and theoretical aspects of this design problem with special emphasis on sky radiance.
- Inquiries regarding Danish projects in Greenland and in harbor areas in the Baltic countries have demonstrated that there is a need for additional analysis of this type.
- The task will be accomplished partly by studies of the existing literature and partly by means of independent measurements and data collection from PV systems in Denmark (56°N and at higher latitudes).
- The anticipated result will be a valuable collection of practical experience, measurements and design guidance which can ease design and deployment of PV energy systems at high latitudes.
